Event Description

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Office of Career Services, in conjunction with the New Mexico Consortium of Career Educators and Employers (NMCCEE), invites you to register for the Public Service Career Showcase (PSCS) 2009, focusing on federal, state, and municipal career opportunities. We take this opportunity to thank John Berry, Director, United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM), for their sponsorship of PSCS 2009.

The event will be held on November 4, 2009 in the UNM Student Union Building ballrooms, and is open to job seekers from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In addition to UNM candidates, alumni, and community members, students from the following colleges/university have been invited to attend:

• Central New Mexico Community College (CNM)
• Eastern New Mexico University (Portales and Roswell campuses)
• New Mexico Highlands University (Las Vegas, NM)
• New Mexico State University (Grants Campus)
• New Mexico State University (Grants Campus)
• Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute

We are excited to announce that the numbers of job seekers has doubled for our 2009 career fairs. We expect PSCS 2009 to draw similar attendance and estimate about 2,000 job seekers will attend.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is $150.00 per table, which includes:

• Table space includes one six-foot skirted table.
• Two chairs.
• Breakfast and lunch for up to two recruiters. (Additional meal tickets are available for $30.00 per person.)
• Parking will be validated for one vehicle, no in-out privileges. Parking will not be validated for UNM program representatives.

Cancellations

Registration cancellations within 10 days of the event date are subject to a $100.00 administrative fee.Refunds for qualifying cancellations (less administrative fee) will be initiated after the event.

Federal Recruiters Only

OPM is paying the registration fee for federal recruiters (non-military). If you have not already done so, sign up now to reserve your paid space!

New For 2009!

RECRUITER WORKSHOP: November 3, 2009, 3:00 - 5:00 PM

UNM Career Services invites you to attend a recruiter workshop the evening before the career fair. Workshop title is How to Succeed at a Flagship Career Fair, and is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Career Services suite. The workshop is free, but space is limited to 25 recruiters. To sign up for the workshop, contact Mary Montaño no later than October 22, 2009.

WELCOME RECEPTION: November 3, 2009, 5:00 - 7:00 PM

Join us to connect with other PSCS 2009 recruiters and the Career Services staff, light refreshments will be served. Reception is scheduled for 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. So that we may finalize catering support, please RSVP to Mary Montaño no later than October 22, 2009.

Spotlight Services: Stand out in the crowd!

Looking for a way to highlight your organization at the UNM Public Service Career Showcase? To help you stand out, we are offering our Spotlight Service Marketing Package. Package includes priority table assignment, SPOTLIGHT posters placed at the entrance to the fair, and organization logo on the SPOTLIGHT SERVICE page of the student packet given out the day of the event. Fee for the service is $350.00, and is limited to the first 5 organizations requesting the service. Contact Mary Montaño, Placement Manager, UNM Career Services, at (505) 277-7801 to request Spotlight Service.

Meals

LoboCash cards will be provided for breakfast and lunch. The cards are accepted in all of the food venues in the Student Union Building -- you choose the venue and the time!

Parking

Parking is very closely monitored on our campus. We cannot be responsible for tickets or towing if you choose to park outside the visitor lot. Bring your parking stub to the employer sign-in table so we can validate. Parking will be validated for one vehicle per registration, no in-out privileges. Additional parking validation may be purchased by contacting 505-277-7802. Deadline to purchase additional parking is October 22, 2009.

Booth Size

Approximately 8 feet wide, including table width and seating space for two recruiters. Your display must fit within this space, we recommend tabletop or smaller versions of your displays.

Electricity

Electrical outlets can be provided at an additional fee of $50.00 at the time of registration. If electrical outlets are requested on the day of the event, there will be a charge of $75.00. NOTE: The OPM support is for the registration fee only, electrical requests are the responsibility of the recruiter organization.

Driving Directions

Airport car rental shuttles provide transportation between the terminal building and the Car Rental Center located at 3400 University Blvd SE. Shuttles run every 5 minutes from the commercial lane located outside the 1st level of the airport terminal building. Once you have picked up your vehicle at the rental area, drive north on University Blvd. The street curves east to become Randolph. At the traffic signal at Randolph and Yale Blvd, turn left, heading north on Yale. Campus is a 5-7 minute drive from that intersection. Enter campus at Yale and Central, and head east to the Visitor Parking Structure which is adjacent to Central/Stanford entrance to campus.

Directions to the Student Union Building (SUB) from Visitor Parking

From the Visitor Lot, walk north, Popejoy Hall will be on your left. The SUB will also be on your left, Building #60 on the campus map available on the UNM website. The ballroom is located in the northwest corner of the building. Watch for our signs with balloons to direct you to the fair!

Unloading/Loading

Students will be available to help with unloading/loading at entrance to the parking structure from 7:30am to 9:30am. They will be available in the ballroom beginning at 3:00 PM to help you return your material to your vehicle.

Employer Sign-In

Once you have unloaded your displays and other materials, please check in at Employer Sign-in for directions to your assigned table.
